John M. Snider

"In the twenty years I spent pursuing formal education (K-Law School) and the three diplomas I have on my office wall, the most significant are the years I spent and the one I earned at Fisher Catholic. At no other time were my teachers so concerned about my well being and so demanding about my performance both as a student and as a Christian. The lessons I learned and the friendships I made while at Fisher Catholic continue to benefit me on a daily basis.

I have observed through my involvement with Fisher both as the parent of a student and as a School Board Member that the the attributes that made Fisher such a great place in the 1970's are still there today."

Our Academic Teams

Quiz Team: The Fisher Catholic Quiz Team is a very competitive academic team that competes all over the country in various academic quiz competitions. The team is made up of 10 – 14 students who become members of this highly selective team by attending “try-outs” held at Fisher Catholic each September for several weeks.  Try-outs are open to every student at Fisher Catholic; however, only a select few students are chosen for the team.  Team membership requires a commitment to attend practice, study assigned material and participate in all required games, meets, matches and competition.

The “starters”are more experienced members and are expected to be the most  involved. Newer members may be excused for sports, band, church, family situations as needed.  The Fisher Catholic Quiz Team is a two-time State of Ohio Championship Team 2004, 2006.  The team represented the entire state of Ohio at Disney World in 1991, 2004, 2006.

Mrs. Stevenson has coached the Quiz Team since 1985 and she is available to answer any questions students have about the team. Most new team members are asked to join their Sophomore year.

Federal Ecomonics Challenge Team: A team of five students participate in a 30 minute competition regarding the Federal Reserve and our nation's money supply and interest rates. They present their argument for 15 minutes then answer questions fielded to them by Federal Reserve Board economists at the Federal Reserve Band in Pittsburgh for another 15 minutes. Student must be very knowledgeable about the working of the Deferal Reserve system and willing to put in extra hours of hard work. Often much of the preparation is done in Economiocs class. However, the Federal Challenge Club is open to any Junior or Senior who has an interest in economcs, is willing to work on a presentation and would like to travel to Pittsburgh overnight.

Mock U.N. Debate Team: The United Nations Debate Team was formed at Fisher Catholic in 1999. Team members are assigned a country and will discuss and debate serious issues currently facing the world with member "nations" from other schools. Members of the team do study and research to prepare to accurately portray the point of view of the nation they represent.

The United Nations Debate Team is open to all students at Fisher Catholic who have an interest in Social Studies and debate. Students must prepare a formal "Position paper" that presents their country's foreign policy and attitude to specific world situations and events. The Un Debate Team hold its first meeting during the week of school and will hold its first debate the end of September.
