Academic Teams

Quiz Team
The Fisher Catholic Quiz Team is a very competitive academic team that competes all over the country in various academic quiz competitions. The team is made up of 10–14 students who become members of this highly selective team by attending “try-outs” held at Fisher Catholic each September for several weeks. Try-outs are open to every student at Fisher Catholic; however, only a select few students are chosen for the team. Team membership requires a commitment to attend practice, study assigned material and participate in all required games, meets, matches and competition. The “starters” are more experienced members and are expected to be the most involved. Newer members may be excused for sports, band, church, family situations as needed. The Fisher Catholic Quiz Team is a two-time
State of Ohio Championship Team 2004, 2006. The team represented the entire state of Ohio at Disney World in 1991, 2004, 2006. Mrs. Stevenson has coached the Quiz Team since 1985 and she is available to answer any questions students have about the team. Most new team members are asked to join their Sophomore year.

Mock U.N. Debate Team
The United Nations Debate Team was formed at Fisher Catholic in 1999. Team members are assigned a country and will discuss and debate serious issues currently facing the world with member "nations" from other schools. Members of the team do study and research to prepare to accurately portray the point of view of the nation they represent. The United Nations Debate Team is open to all students at Fisher Catholic who have an interest in Social Studies and debate. Students must prepare a formal "Position paper" that presents their country's foreign policy and attitude to specific world situations and events.
