The
William V. Fisher Catholic High School Student Council is organized in
a way that enables team building and cooperation among students,
faculty, staff, and the administration. The House Concept:
The entire school, including students, faculty and staff, are divived
into one of six houses. These houses not only serve as a mentoring
model with interation between our students and adults, but also serve
as the primary governance model for our student government
organization. In addition, friendly team-building competitions between
the houses serve as a focal point during the school year. Fisher Catholic Houses:
Named after six counties in Ireland, each house in the school
year, has designed its own crest, incorporating the four families
(Gaelic spelling) that make up each house. Each house has students from
all grade levels as well as faculty members and one community leader,
called the House Govenour.

As enrollment grows, provisions will be made to add 1-2 more houses. Governance Structure: Each house will be made up of four
families. Each family will have students from the same class (freshman,
sophomore, juniors, and seniors). One student from each house (must be a junior or senior) will be elected Governor
of the House, voted on by all members of the House. For the first year, any junior
or senior may run for Governor. The top six vote getters will be named Governor
and placed in a different house for the school year. The six governors will be make up the Board of Governors of the Student
Council. Any of the six governors can be elected as President of Student
Council through a general election of the whole student body. The person who
comes in second in the voting will be named the Vice-President of the Council.
The Board of Governors will then appoint, from the remaining four Governors, a
treasurer, a secretary, a sergeant-at-arms, and a parliamentarian. Ideally, the
Governors will attend a Leadership Conference through the Ohio Association of
Student Councils. Each family will elect one representative to Student Council. Tis brings,
for the school year, a total of 30 Student Council members. Student Council members who fail conduct will be removed for the rest of the
year. If a representative is removed a new family member will be elected from
its ranks. If a Governor is removed, the entire House will elect a new
Governor. If the President is removed, the Vice-President will assume his or
her role and each remaining Governor will move up one slot wit the newly
appointed Governor taking the last spot of Parliamentarian. Student Council will meet once or twice a month, always rotating the period
that they meet as to minimize time from the classroom. Their duties and
responsibilities will be defined during the school year. Some of the
duties that should be undertaken include:
| - Student of the week honors | | - Teacher of the month honors | | - Dress down designations | | - Homecoming and Prom Planning | | - Important school events | | - Organization and running of House compeitions |
House Competitions: During the school year, the Houses will
compete at various times including, but not limited to, Opening Day, the Magazine
Sale, and quarterly spirit days. Houses will be assigned points deepening on
their placement in these competitions. In addition, one House will be voted by
the faculty and staff with the Ben Thimmes Spirit Award, which will garner that
House extra points. At the end of the year, the House with the most points will have a banner
placed in the school and be declared House Champions for that school year. In
addition, they will be given a free reward trip at the end of the school year. |
