Through Him was life and this life was the light of the human race; the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:4-5. Fisher Catholic Irish for Life is a proactive organization whose function/duty is to promote any and all pro-life issues among the faculty, staff, student population and community at large. We feel that God calls us to minister to all people from the womb until natural death and that God intends a world that seeks the goodness of life in all creation. The organization pledges to protect life in any form from any and all threats including, but not limited to abortion, euthanasia, assisted suicide, and the death penalty.
THE IRISH4LIFE TRIP TO WASHINGTON D.C.
FCHS Pro-Life Club “Irish4Life” Covenant - Scheduled Events In the Irish4Life Club, we are dedicated to giving our all in the journey to end abortion and increase respect for all human life from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death. The annual March for Life in Washington D.C. is a big part of what the Fisher Catholic Irish4Life Club does; however, it is not the only thing that this club hopes to accomplish. Other events will be offered throughout the year (Life Chain, 40 days for life, volunteer opportunities at PDHC, etc). Club members must take part in at least three club-sponsored events besides the March for Life. Along with these activities regular attendance and participation in Irish4Life Club sponsored prayer events is mandatory.
We will meet every Wednesday from 2:35 - 3:00. We will alternate club meetings with gathering to pray a “Rosary for Life”. It goes without saying that each member will also continually pray and sacrifice for an end to abortion and an increase in respect for life.
A special THANK YOU to all of the generous patrons who attended one or many of the Irish4Life club's pancake breakfasts. Because of your generosity we were able to discount the cost of our trip to Washington, DC by $120.00 per student! The experience was a powerful one despite the less than hospitable weather. Before we left at 4:30 AM last Tuesday morning I reminded the students that we were going to DC to express our opposition to the Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade (and Doe v. Bolton) decision to legalize abortion in the United States. But then I went on to emphasize that we also go to allow the Lord to change our hearts because if we are to end abortion in this country it has to start with each one of us embracing LIFE in its fullness and only Christ can give us that! I can honestly say that I came away from this year's March very much changed and I am sure that many of the students feel the same way. As a result of this experience I have resolved to pray the Rosary every day after school in the chapel starting promptly at 2:35. All students and parents are welcome to join in praying for an end to abortion and for the other needs of our community. Please stop by and join us!
Gratefully in Christ,
